Event Rulebook

The event will be governed by the Gears 5 Handbook and Code of Conduct. The Gears 5 Esports handbook can be found here.

Each ticket holder and participant for the event must also comply with the Ticket Holder Agreement and Event Rules and Details Agreement.

Event Format

Gears 5 Majors are divided into two phases – Seeding and Championship.

During the seeding phase, Pro League teams are divided into two groups based on their final placing from the online portion of Pro League play. All teams then play 3 rounds of matches in Swiss Bracket style competition to establish seeding in the Championship Bracket.

While these matches are taking place, the Open Bracket teams compete in a double elimination tournament, from which the top 4 teams from both the winners and losers brackets will earn a spot in the Championship Bracket.

The Championship phase will consist of a single elimination bracket with the top 4 teams from both Swiss Bracket pools receiving a first round bye, while the bottom 4 teams compete against the teams that qualified through the Open Bracket.

The format is also outlined in the handbook here.
